The iconic Real Madrid striker, Raúl González, who left the "merengues" some years ago, says that people should be grateful for the work done by Carlo Ancelotti, who was recently sacked after a drought of trophies this past season. Ancelotti still had a year left on his contract.
"Nobody can deny that Ancelotti has done a very good job as head coach of Real Madrid", says González, who currently plays for the New York Cosmos.
Raúl highlights that thanks to the Italian trainer, Real Madrid finally won its 10th Champions League "after many years" and that "he got the respect and affection from the fans."
According to the player, it's always difficult if trophies are not won, moreover when there is a change of coach and players. But he also says that this type of movement is quite normal in a club as big as Real Madrid.
González sees as very important that, apart from the peaks and valleys in the team's performance, fans should be grateful for the work and effort he invested in the team.
